Why Comfort Is Making Us Miserable
We live in the most comfortable age in human history.
Climate-controlled homes. Endless entertainment. Food delivered on demand. Pain buffered, boredom anesthetized, silence eliminated.
And yet anxiety, depression, and despair are rising—especially among the young.
That should bother us.
Comfort was supposed to make us happy. Instead, it’s hollowing us out.
Comfort becomes dangerous when it replaces meaning.
The human soul doesn’t thrive on ease. It thrives on purpose, sacrifice, belonging, and truth. Remove those, and comfort turns corrosive. We don’t just need softer pillows. We need a reason to get out of bed.
