When the Pantry Becomes a Path to Self-Awareness: How Gluttony Shows a Wider Picture of You
At night when the house is quiet and dark and everyone else is asleep I wake and I wander toward the kitchen. I don’t know why and I don’t think about my destination and my hand is already on the pantry or refrigerator door before I ask why. Hunger is a simple word that can mean many things. Sometimes it means I want something to fill my empty stomach. Sometimes it means I want comfort, or a distraction from what is troubling me, or something to ease the boredom. Whatever it means it keeps me from seeing and admitting the true cause. My body initiates first and I’ll have to wait for the soul to answer later.
