Ditching Your Plans for His: It’s Time to Lose Control to Find Your Way
What if the reason you feel stuck isn’t because you’re doing something wrong—but because you’re trying too hard to control the outcome?
Sit with that a minute. “You’re trying too hard to control the outcome.”
We all have visions of what our lives should look like—a sense of where we ought to be by now, what kind of man we thought we’d become, or what outcomes we believe would finally make us feel like we matter. And often, those visions are good. Noble, even. But sometimes, even our noblest ambitions, if not truly laid at His feet, can become gilded cages, keeping us from the expansive freedom of His design. We want to provide for our families, serve our communities, make a difference. We pray for guidance, and then we quietly assign God the role of project manager to the plan we’ve already drawn up.
Just because a plan is good doesn’t mean it’s God’s.
